A Prayer for Rest

Lord,

I am so tired and so small. Help me to open my heart to receive the sweet graces and abundant rest You are ready to lavish on me. Help me be still, help me be quiet. In the quiet, remind me that with You I have everything I need. Hold me close, that I may rest in the warm, steady, reassuring presence of the Holy Spirit. As a child puts her trust completely in her mother’s love and goodness, I will put my trust in You.

Amen.

O LORD, my heart is not lifted up, my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.

But I have calmed and quieted my soul, like a child quieted at its mother’s breast; like a child that is quieted is my soul.

O Israel, hope in the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.
