Restoring Your Broken Heart

Deep healing, Christ’s presence, and the power to be made new.

Recently, I was interviewed by my friend and colleague, Melissa Krupp of The Abundant Catholic in a podcast episode titled, Restoring Your Broken Heart (listen at the link below). Melissa wrote the article that follows and I am sharing it here with her permission. May you be blessed by it.

Melissa writes:

I realized something halfway through recording our most recent podcast episode- an insight that deeply resonates with me: healing from trauma isn’t just about reading the right books, talking it out, or even understanding the science behind it (though those things have their place); it’s about something much bigger that I think many of us have been missing: encountering Jesus.

Recently, I sat with De Yarrison, Founder and Executive Director of You Are Made New Ministry, a Catholic Non-Profit Ministry that is guiding souls through profound healing encounters with Christ. The conversation uncovered why so many of us are bound by old wounds and how Christ’s loving presence can truly transform us, changing our lives for the better.

Re-writing the Story with Christ 💌

De’s story begins in chaos: divorce, addiction, and neglect. She learned from a young age to disconnect from her own needs in order to protect her fragile heart. Her journey of healing reveals the remedy in which we all need: God’s mercy, compassion, and love. When we allow Him into our most vulnerable places, He rewires and restores us, one small… but very real, encounter at a time.

De emphasizes that no rupture, big or small, escapes God’s loving reach. This is a truth we may quickly believe, but be hesitant to actually receive and welcome into our own story. Which reminds me of something she shared:
“Our work is really about making our relationship with Jesus real, because He’s real. He abides in the heart of each one of us.”

And that’s the part I want to focus on today. How Jesus is real and healing is possible. He gently restores and rewrites our story from the inside out, making all things new.

Making All Things New ✨
You see, De’s retreats and community programs are designed to facilitate this transformation. And they do it through an invitation to enter into the deep, but not without support. Through guided prayer, body work, and sacred encounters, they create a space to reframe traumatic memories, release what’s been withheld or suppressed, and reclaim the truth of who you are in Christ. It’s like giving your brain and body a new script, that you are infinitely loved, but instead of just being told that, you actually experience this love.

De reminds us that no trauma, no unwanted experience, or painful moment- escapes Christ’s power to make “all things new.”
Know this: His grace is greater than any wound. The retreats, the resources, the prayers- they’re all invitations to step into His transformative love.

Why would Christ come and die if there was nothing to redeem and restore? We are all in need of his “newness” and it’s a free gift he desires for each of us to receive.

This is more than just another option- it’s a reality that allows us to reclaim our identity as chosen, beloved children of God, renew our spirits, and restore our broken hearts.

When we accept His invitation to be made new, our entire life shifts directions as we find ourselves becoming less guarded, less ashamed, and experiencing freedom from the things that hinder our ability to give and receive love.

If you’re feeling the faintest stir of longing for this kind of healing, I encourage you to explore the upcoming Restore Retreats and programs De and her team offer.

You are not alone. Christ is making all things new. I believe with all my heart that your journey toward restoration begins with His tender invitation to come and be set free.

Here’s my prayer for you: Come Holy Spirit, come. Hold the most fragile places of our hearts, heal what’s broken, and make us new. May we encounter Jesus- not just with our minds but with our bodies, our spirits, and our whole beings. Lord, help us to accept Your love, to trust in Your power, and to believe that nothing is impossible with You.

If this resonates, I’d love to hear from you. And remember that there is a space for you to heal and a community who is available to walk with you every step of the way.
