Victorious Over Fear – Sunday March 24
Victorious Over Fear – March 24

But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. – Psalm 56:3

Today’s gospel reading (March 24, 2019) is the account of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well. Our study this week guides us in reflecting on a few important truths with regard to fear:

    1. As human beings, we likely share a deep fear of being fully seen. And there, with our vulnerability exposed, we fear being found worthless and unlovable.
    2. Jesus longs to meet us there in our deepest fear. Oh, that we would let Him in and feel His tender gaze upon us. He longs to soothe our fearful hearts with the assurance that we are worthy of His unconditional and everlasting love!
    3. Fear is not of God. God’s promise and plan for our lives is that we live in freedom from our fears.

The topic for our reflection this week is how – in Christ – we are victorious over fear.

Remember to be on the lookout every day for the seemingly small victories. Our ‘yardstick’ for measuring these small victories is the fruit of the Spirit. Notice how His grace enables you to shift your gaze from your frustration to His peace. Notice your joy-filled heart as you gratefully speak His name throughout the day. These are victories to be acknowledged and celebrated!

We look forward to hearing your insights and inspirations in the comments at the bottom of the page. You can also share on our Facebook page.

Prayer: My Jesus, I desire to lay my heart bare before You. I know in my mind that You are gentle, kind, and loving yet I fear Your gaze. In this moment, I surrender my fear of being seen to You. My longing to be truly seen, known, and loved by You, my Beloved, is greater than my fear. Thank You, Jesus, for granting me the grace to overcome my fears and choose to be vulnerable in Your sight. With Your healing power and tender love, transform my fear into joy and courage so that I may run to others and share the wonders and truths of Your thirst to love all souls. Amen.
