In our world, ordained ministers and other pastoral workers can make present the fragrance of Christ’s closeness and his personal gaze. …this “art of accompaniment” teaches us to remove our sandals before the sacred ground of the other.”
– Pope Francis
Our spiritual accompaniment services are for women desiring growth in their relationship with God and in their relationship with themselves. We’ll move in that direction together, through prayer, deepening awareness of self, and removal of obstacles, spiritually and emotionally. In the words of one of our mentors, St. Ignatius:
We must attain the ability to understand to some extent, the different movements produced in the soul and recognizing those that are good to admit them, and those that are bad, to reject them.
We put Ignatius’ call into action using tools and methods from the fields of Coaching and Gestalt Pastoral Care, while standing firmly upon the pillars below. Presently, our Coaching and Gestalt Pastoral Care services are carried out by De Yarrison, CPCC. You can learn about De’s credentials and experience here.
Pillar 1: Prayer
To be effective in reaching the ultimate end, closeness with God and alignment with His will, prayer must be the raw material that forms, shapes, and guides each coaching session. It is through prayer that we, together, listen for and respond to our true Spiritual Director.
Pillar 2: Identity
Our foundational identity is Beloved of God. We stand firmly on this truth in our coaching work together. Oftentimes, an important part of our work involves simply being with the Lord and letting His love sink in deeply. Each time we allow ourselves to receive His immense love, we gain strength to take the next step.
Pillar 3: Wholeness
“Just as our bodies mobilize for healing when we have been physically injured, we can be confident that this same energy for wholeness is expended on wounds of emotion and spirit. In this context, discomfort or pain or anxiety are certainly not imaginary, but are a sign that something is pushing for resolution inside…We trust our inner process precisely because the Holy Spirit is at work in it, for the drive toward wholeness is written into our very beings by the One who created us.” – Tilda Norberg in Consenting to Grace, an Introduction to Gestalt Pastoral Care.
“Behold, I make all things new.” – Revelation 21:5
