DESCRIPTION:Gain a deeper understanding of how family of origin stories\nlay the groundwork for how we live, love and relate.\n\n\nOur lives are composed of many stories – scenes that may have lasted for moments or months – that were filled with shame, powerlessness, betrayal or heartbreak. The core stories of our upbringing lay the groundwork for how we live, love, and relate with those around us and ourselves.\nStory Work uses your sacred story to identify the emotional, spiritual, and relational impacts of your core stories of neglect, loss, betrayal, or harm. Through the process of story-telling and story engagement, something truly transformative happens: we find the hope of redemption.\n\n\n\n\nWho are these groups for?\n\n\n\n\n\nIndividuals who have experienced wounding or trauma in their early lives\nIndividuals desiring to share their Sacred Stories in a safe community\nIndividuals wanting to anchor more deeply into Christ as the center of their lives\nIndividuals seeking support and Catholic community, as we journey towards greater freedom and healing\n\n\n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\nEngage your story in a very intentional way within a safe and supportive setting. Through this engagement, we invite our Lord to speak truth into our memories and moments of wounding, including:\n\nSharing a specific story of heartache or harm\nRe-processing memories with Jesus’ guidance; giving Him permission to provide what we needed then but did not receive\nUnderstanding the impact on ourselves and others of not telling the truth about our story. (“You can’t take anyone farther than you have gone yourself” or “Trauma that isn’t transformed is transmitted”)\nGrowing in compassion for our younger self and our ability to tolerate grief\nAccompanying others into dark places in their story\n\n\nLearn Christ-centered therapeutic skills to aid in coping with anxiety, stress, and trauma responses.\nIdentify current cognitive patterns and ‘take thoughts captive to obey Christ’ in order to better support your healing process\n\nBefore registering, please check the meeting dates of the session and confirm that you will be able to attend all of the sessions. In order for every group member to feel safe and to share fully, consistent attendance is important.
