De reflects on how the knowledge that the Holy Spirit is alive and active within us, gives us a new lens through which to understand old situations.
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught Peter – Matthew 14:29-30
Oh Lord, it is true that I begin to sink when I take my eyes off of you. When I look at the waves rising up and crashing around me, I become overwhelmed and am tempted to sink into despair or hopelessness. Lord, You alone save me! Thank You for grabbing my hand again and again. Your mighty hand is forever before me. May I grow in the grace to walk straight along the path you have set for me, neither veering to the left nor to the right. Strengthen my faith that I may trust You always and never doubt Your presence and Your power to help me. With Your hand in mine Lord, lead me through today.
Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my mighty right hand. – Isaiah 41:10
