He is all things to all people. Imagine that, if you can. I don’t know…
Seek Me Where I May Be Found
“Draw me in your footsteps, let us run.” exclaims the Bride of the Song of Songs to her Bridegroom, her Lord, Jesus.
I believe, in these days, Christ the Bridegroom is exclaiming to each of our hearts, “Draw Me into YOUR footsteps, let us run.”
On February 1, 2020 I was blessed to begin my pilgrimage to the Holy Land with my pastor and spiritual director and his group of fifty pilgrims. I boarded the plane praying, “Yes, Jesus my Bridegroom, draw me into Your footsteps. I am on my way to walk in Your footsteps!” I spent nearly 24 hours in airports and on planes to travel to Israel and I was truly grateful and excited to walk in my Lord’s footsteps.
And then something unexpected happened…. As I walked in Jesus’ footsteps and reflected on His experiences in each of the holy sites we visited, I heard within my heart His quiet voice saying, “Why do you seek me here where I am not. Seek me where I can be found… in the heart of your heart. Draw Me into YOUR footsteps.”
Sitting here today, in my home, surrounded by my children all home from school and college, with unexpected time to ponder my encounters with Jesus in the Holy Land, I have come to the realization that truly walking in Christ’s footsteps necessitates a “walking together in each other’s footsteps.” As I walk in His, He walks in mine. As I draw Him into my daily life through prayer, sacramentals, the Sacraments, reading the Scriptures, and offering all my daily trials and joys to Him through Mary, WE, Christ and I, are walking together.
Right here and now… simply by speaking to Him and saying, “Please Lord, draw me in Your footsteps… let us run.” He draws and is drawn into our mutual walking together through this life.
Can you hear Him saying to you… “Draw Me into YOUR footsteps… draw near to My Sacred Heart… seek Me… in your anxiety, your uncertainty, your loneliness, your boredom, your illness, in every moment… SEEK ME… seek and I have promised you will find Me… seek Me where I may always be found… in the very heart of your heart.”
Closing Prayer: Dear Jesus, Yes, Lord, I am seeking You and I desire to be drawn into Your footsteps and to draw You into mine. Please reveal Your presence to me in the heart of my heart. Amen.
