Holy Trinity, Hold Us

Holy Trinity
Holy Family
Holy Hearts
hold us.

Last Christmas, during one of my evening prayer times, the Lord brought me deeply into the peace and joy and light of the Holy Trinity. It was such a sweet invitation. I felt led by the Blessed Mother, right into the center of our Triune God: Eternal Father, Beloved Son, and Holy Spirit. I rested there, in warm love. A secure and freeing embrace. Total peace and joy.

I was waiting until the end of my prayer time to open up a gift my dear Mom had left for me on my front porch. There it sat. I read her card first: “May this little gift remind you that you dwell securely in the light and joy and love of the Holy Trinity.” I could hardly believe my eyes upon reading her words! Then I opened the gift: a large white candle with 3 wicks in it. The light of the Holy Trinity! My heart was ablaze with this Heaven-kissing-earth moment, beaming right down into my own lowly heart and home. I marveled at the Holy Spirit inspiring my poor prayer and leading my beautifully open mother as an instrument of His Love, so directly. Truly, our God speaks His love to us, particularly and with caring detail.

I remained in this warm embrace for days, and soon Grace dropped a prayer simply into my heart: “Holy Trinity, Holy Family, Holy Hearts, hold us.” This prayer said it all to me. And it still does. It stays with me daily, a year later, and continues to console me deeply and gently.

We are invited to live our every moment in this warm, safe embrace. This is our home. The total unity of the Holy Trinity, embodied in the enveloping love of the Holy Family, poured out through the humble Hearts of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. Theirs is a love unbroken, boundless, total, faithful, free, fruitful, redemptive, and healing. We can dwell forever in this embrace of love, this family of cozy, reliable, complete love. This is a love we can trust with all our hearts and rest in with all our weary needs and cries and longings.

In this Christmas Season, in this New Year, we abide in the Bright Light of the Holy Trinity, in the secure embrace of the Holy Family, in the peace and joy of the Hearts that hold us.

Holy Trinity
Holy Family
Holy Hearts
hold us.
