Prayer to Embrace the Ache

Lord, we ache for heaven. We are acutely aware that this is not right. That the pain we experience is not right. That the pain we see in others is not right.

The distress stirs in each of us the cry, How long, O Lord? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every sorrow in my heart?

Sovereign Lord, You take those cries. You embrace them. You cry over them. And continue to allow them.

Because You have triumphed over the cause of them.

Lord, stir in us a sense of Your purpose and sovereignty.

So we trust in Your unfailing love; our hearts rejoice in Your salvation, that which is both now and not yet. We will sing to You, Lord, because You have been good to us.

You see the pain and declare it is not meaningless. Lord, You are so good. I thank You for how You, my Great Redeemer, have been with me through all, drawing me closer into Your embrace, oh Man of Sorrows.

Amen.

How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?” -Psalm 13:2
