A Prayer for Mondays

Oh Jesus,

Here we are, You and I, another week.

I offer you last week with all of it’s joys and sufferings and unfinished to-dos; please give me the grace to let go.

[Pause to call these things to mind. Lay them down one by one at Christ’s feet and leave them there.]

Give me the grace to know that in You I have the strength to do whatever You will for me do this week.

Help me trust that You will provide the grace needed in each and every moment and for each and every task; I thank You ahead of time for these perfect measures of grace.

Still my racing thoughts, Lord, and direct my attention toward those in most needed of Your love today. May I surrender my desire to cross things off so that I may have the mental and emotional space to slow down, do less, and love more.

[Take a moment to listen. Does anyone in particular come to mind as someone you are being called to love today?]

Send Your Holy Spirit now to fill me up with the peace I need to live in Your love today and to remain firmly rooted in the hope of Your promises.

[Close by taking a moment to be quiet and still and breathe in the peace, love, and hope the Holy Spirit brings.]

I love you Lord, I’m so thankful we are starting this week together.

Amen.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10
