Novena of Surrender to the Will of God
Dear Sisters,
God is so good to us! He blesses us in ways beyond what we imagine and He shows us His love in completely unexpected ways!
Let me back up little…
The past two weeks our Thursday Sisterhood Chats have been focused on different ways or “experiments” we can use to approach our anxiety:
Last week in Part 1 we explored getting curious about our anxieties (experiment 1) and bringing our anxieties to the Lord using the 3 steps of Repentance, Forgiveness, and Reconciliation (experiment 2). This Thursday, in Part 2, we dug deeper into what it means to give thanks (experiment 3) and surrender (experiment 4).
Surrender…I don’t know about you but that is one of those words that I know is central to my relationship with God, but I would honestly rather not deal with- it’s scary! Somehow it feels easier to continue believing that I am in control and that I can take care of everything, but (spoiler alert!) I can’t. You can’t.
He can.
Let that sink in. He is in control. He can take care of everything. He has and He is and He will take care of everything, if we surrender everything to Him.
De shared a beautiful prayer with us yesterday: The Novena of Surrender to the Will of God. We prayed the first day of the Novena together on Facebook Live and it was so powerful we decided to join together in prayer for all nine days!
Well, we later realized that the last day of the novena will fall on Holy Saturday, just in time for us to be made new at the celebration of Christ’s Resurrection on Easter Sunday! Isn’t He good to us?!
We invite you to join us in this transformative prayer these next 8 days. I have included the prayers for Days 1 and 2 below so you can jump right in! And we will also post daily reminders on our social media pages.
To learning to surrender and being Made New,
Megan
Novena of Surrender to the Will of God
Day 1
Why do you confuse yourselves by worrying?
Leave the care of your affairs to me and everything will be peaceful. I say to you in truth that every act of true, blind, complete surrender to me produces the effect that you desire and resolves all difficult situations.
Repeat 10 times…
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything!
Day 2
Surrender to me does not mean to fret, to be upset, or to lose hope, nor does it mean offering to me a worried prayer asking me to follow you and change your worry into prayer. It is against this surrender, deeply against it, to worry, to be nervous And to desire to think about the consequences of anything. It is like the confusion that children feel when they ask their mother to see to their needs, and then try to take care of those needs for themselves so that their childlike efforts get in their mother’s way. Surrender means to placidly close the eyes of the soul, to turn away from thoughts of tribulation and to put yourself in my care.
Repeat 10 times…
O Jesus, I surrender myself to you, take care of everything!
thank you for praying with me
