A prayer for taking every thought captive

Oh Lord, through the words of St. Paul, You instruct us not to blindly believe every thought that pops into our minds, but to “take every thought captive to obey Christ.” Please show me how to do this in my daily life. Which thought is it time for me to bring before You for evaluation? Which thought am I thinking that pulls me away from You and the plan You have for my day today?

I thank You for granting me the grace to see myself more clearly, as You see me, and not through the lens of my own self-perception. Thank You for leading me to new thoughts about myself; thoughts grounded in Your truths about me. Thank You for loving me with Your everlasting and compassionate love.

I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Take every thought captive to obey Christ.”-2 Corinthians 9:8

Seek the face of the lord and long for him
He will bring you His Light and His Peace.
I have loved you with an everlasting love
I have called you, and you are mine.
– Hymn “I Have Loved You With An Everlasting Love” by Michael Joncas 1979, OCP Publications

“I am humbled and privileged to walk alongside my sisters in Christ, to be invited into their stories and life experiences. I pray we will each know – really claim in our bones - how deeply, unconditionally, and extravagantly we are loved by God our Father. May we open ourselves to His love and allow it to change our lives!” – De
