To Embrace a Spirit of Power, Love, and Self-discipline

Loving Jesus,

Many days my life feels ruled by fear: the large looming fears about the future or relationships, and the smaller nagging anxieties of daily life and tasks. When I get so caught up in my fears I lose sight of You and Your never ending love and goodwill for me. Through Your love I have received the grace and power of the Holy Spirit: the power to love even when it is difficult, the power to grow in the self-discipline necessary to be a faithful disciple. Guide my heart to face head-on the fears that keep me from growing in intimacy with You so that I may embrace the powerful, loving, self-disciplined spirit You have given me.

Amen.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
